As a photographer, initially I started to learn bookbinding as an alternative method of presenting my work. Over the past two or three years I have fallen in love as much with binding as with photography and my work now involves making artists’ books as well as printing photographic images. The name Caro Boulton Photography no longer reflects my current practice; thus it become necessary to create a single umbrella under which all my different processes can be housed. Since all of my work encounters a press at one time or other, be it a letterpress, printing press or bookbinding nipping press, Arctic Hare Press was born.
My work is essentially project based and I incorporate whichever processes and media suits the work best. My photographic work utilises both analogue and digital technologies whereas my bindings can be experimental or classic; it all depends on the work.
